Looking for some input on my issue I’ve had since last year. 22 defender xmr get a random “check smart lock” and p3407 code. Problem I find is the front diff is not totally unlocking or releasing from 4x4 Once changed back to 2wd, if I remove the actuator I can hear the spring return in the diff and it opens up like normal and front wheels turn independently of each other.
Replaced diff actuator as I found it had a hole in it, checked fuses, checked wire harness on the diff the best I could (I don’t have a volt meter at home to ohm it out), checked speed sensors and cleaned no luck
Any thoughts on this? Possibly the switch? Hasn’t been back to the dealer in 3 years maybe software update? Did having that hole in the actuator letting water in short something out in that front diff module?
