Just purchased a 2019 hd10 max and put soft doors on it.  Was riding it with the family in it the other night,  and it's so loud in there you couldn't even hear each other talk. Was wondering if there are any recommendations for helping with noise.

My XT Cab is the same way.  Purrs outside / noisy as all get-out inside.  This is one area where Polaris has us beat.  The Northstar is like a car inside in terms of noise.  I’m not going back to Rangers though, having lived through the troublesome XP800 era...

I just bought a 2019 also, no enclosure but do have the cab over.  It is loud.  I also noticed that Can Am is marketing the 2020 as quieter.  Wondering if the 2019 can be retrofitted to quiet it down?

I just ordered some (xcel) brand 1/2 inch sticky padding. Im going to stick on the inside of machine, to try to quit it down.  I'll let you guys know how it works.

I think this should help. All that separates the motor from the cab, is a thin layer of plastic.

Eric, I was thinking of doing something similar to reduce interior noise. Don't forget the area at the back of cab under the seats etc, where the engine sits. The most benefit might actually be the floor area but I am not sure one could access that area from below to apply the sound insulation material. The dealer said that the 2020 has a thicker firewall plastic and maybe an insulated belt cover ???🤔

I have a 2020 Defender Max and you can talk like normal. Very little engine noise. I can actually talk on a cell phone while riding without talking load. It is the quietest machine I have ever owned..  Probably helps that the engine is a bit farther back..

I have a 2019 xt hard cab and have taken a 1/4 inch rubber mat from Tractor supply ( or any farm type store) trimmed it to fit the floor and placed it like a floor mat. Haven't  ridden the bike since but it has got to have some affect on reducing the noise. I am also planning a sound reducing material behide the seat area soon. I will let you know how it works.

The matt looks good and will make it easier to clean the floor without all the cracks etc. I am sure it will have some effect on reducing interiro noise as well.☺️

I have 2019 hd10 defender  lone star.   Measured sound levels in back seat and front seat during idle and at 10 miles per hour, and then used thermo tech heat/sound suppressor behind back seats.  reduced sound levels in back and front seats by up to 10 decibels, which is significant.   I can now talk easily to front seat passenger, and noise levels are low enough in back seat for them to also converse without shouting.   Below 85 DB in back seat now, which is the osha level for noise induced hearing loss over 8 hour period.  Overall very worth the time and expense.  I am going to add more in spots in the engine compartment to further reduce but have to be careful to keep away from the hot spots because some have advised it can drip the asphalt backing even though rated for high heat by manufacturer.  I would also like to add some floor mats and put some sound insulator on the bottom.  Anybody know where to get aftermarket floor mats for this vehicle?

No but I will take some in a couple weeks when I get up to my vehicle again

Nice, How many Sq Ft so far and the total amount and how thick is the material?

Hey Guys, I'm new here because I wanted to learn all I could before I made the purchase. I really like the looks of the Black 2019 Max Lone Star and was ready to buy but after listening about all the upgrades on the 2020 it made me think. I went to the local dealer that had one and i agree it is a rather quite machine. Going from using a all electric machine for years primary used for hunting its hard to jump into a machine you can hear 1/2 mile away coming.

The 2020 sound level is not bad, but the color sucks! and no real other choice on the Lone Star Max. I think the color was a brave chance that people would like it. Pictures are one thing but look at it in the sun, so I'm still thinking and looking at options. Just want to be happy with my decision and get just what i like. Maybe I'd have to look at doing a wrap on a new one to get it the way i want it to look. Bigger tires, windshield, half doors, and Black is the wish list.

Start with the 2020 and upgrade from there, 10 more Hp, brake assist parking brake and quieter exhaust system. 😉

Thats exactly what I'm going to do, so now i just have to figure out which model to build from.
