I have a 2021 defender limited max and the wiper fluid leaks from the sprayer on wiper while driving constant drip

Check valve in washer tubing installed near wiper motor is faulty or possibly missing?

Part no 21.

it’s behind the wiper motor housing.

Hey - I’ll be straight with you here: I bought my machine exclusively for snow plowing and was super-stoked about the wiper / washer feature on my 2019 XT Cab.  While I use the wiper all the time (weekly, sometimes daily) I’ve used the washer precisely ZERO.  I filled it with blue fluid in October 2019 and it’s been in there since, untouched.  I find that the defroster handles our weather just fine.  I’d say drain it, unless you’re mudding or rallying on long dirt roads or something.  I’ve tested it and it works well, just don’t need it putting around in Low Range with a plow.  - Mark

After testing the check valve by putting it in backwards. I realized it is holding washer fluid and not leaking. I also put a zip tie or hose clamp on all the hose connects down stream of the check valve. Which made little difference in stopping the leak.

I’ve heard a number of people have had this issue. I think it’s a design flaw more than anything. There’s about two feet of hose down stream of the check valve & spray nozzle. So any air can get into the hose and cause the washer fluid to leak out.

I put in a 1/8” check valve just before the spray nozzle. The zip ties on the connections might be a bit overkill. I have yet to test it by taking it for a ride. But if it leaks now I’m draining the washer fluid reservoir all together.

(Update 5 months later this is working great. No more washer fluid leaking)
