Having a very hard time getting an enclosed trailer for my 2019 HD 10 . The main problem is that what size trailer is best? 6x12 and if so most important, what size does the door have to be? Local dealers have them in stock but I'm afraid to place an order. Does anyone have this same machine stock and also has an enclosed trailer where it drives in and fits? Can anyone please help me out thank you ps I measured my machine yesterday see attached. Looks like about 75 or 76 inch door will allow it to clear.also is a 6 or 7 foot width best?

Whoa whoa whoa!!! Just a quick heads up. I guess if you are going to keep yer rig 100% stock and the preloads at say 3... Maybe an 80" door. (But it's NOT the door size but the height below the assist spring that matters) BUT..... If you plan on adding say a light bar? Maybe a small lift? Or better yet, a new set of 32's and forward A arms.... 84" opening (below the spring)  is going to be needed. Right now i have the stock 27's, preloads on 3/4, a 2" battle armor lift, and a light bar mounted on top and my height right now is 81.5". My 32's will be delivered Friday A arms on Monday... I'll get you an overall at that time.

Oh, and by the way, WELCOME to the forum!! Here's my 'Bear' as he sits today...

In a 6×12 you would not be able to get out... Unless you're tiny. Besides, if you are doing it, why not get a trailer that carries some of your extra gear and fuel? I'm also not sure you would even find that small of a trailer 8' tall.

From past experience, always buy bigger then you think when it comes to trailers. Used to haul my snowmobiles  and wheelers and never had enough  room, be it gear or equipment.

Boy i'm glad those days are over. :classic_biggrin:

Looks like I'll need at least 77 inches high by 7x12.
Make sure you check it. A 78" door will usually have the spring below the opening... making it more like 75". Made that mistake... good thing my next enclosed is gonna be a 38' Goose with an 8' door and 13' garage. DONE!!! 😉

This is my stock 2018 HD 10 CAB. I think the photo is on the softest suspension setting. 8’ x 22’ including the V nose. Also had it built as a car hauler. It’s an all aluminum Legend with torsion axles.  I went 6” taller on the door height for an 80” door opening. Keep in mind the door angle / approach of the machine decreases the machine height and increases the space between the cab and the door opening. Even with my springs cranked all the way “up” I would guess I would have 3”-4” clearance to spare. As far as size I can haul the defender and a full size ATV with some room to spare. Hope that helps in your decision.

I found a v shape BLACKED out 7x14x 6.6 (79.2) inch door. May bring my machine down he said I could test it out to see if it fits. Believe it's a Look brand .can't go bigger really just dont have the room around here .

My honest opinion, I would go the full 8’ width route. If you have any type of door on your defender it’s pretty hard to get out once it’s loaded or get back in to unload it. The worst part is when you load it after a trip it’s usually filthy when it gets put back in the trailer and when you get home, and it’s time to unload, you better have old or dirty clothes on because you’re going to rub down the whole side of that dirty machine trying to get to the door.

As for the length, it really depends what you all intend to bring. If it’s just your machine going in it, 16’ is about perfect. A defender takes up roughly  11’ and then you’ll have the rest for gear, fuel or coolers.

Hope this helps

This one fits my 'Bear' just fine even at 85". He really wants to pull it as well. He's got HIGH HOPES!!! We call the hauler 'The Den' considering it's where bear goes to nap... NOT HIBERNATE!!!

Nice trailer Mikep123456.   That would be perfect for me to take my HD8 and a couple of Honda 2-wheelers to Colorado!

A hunt 2 remember-if I had your setup, I might go and never come back!  :classic_biggrin:    Very nice!

It is tough going back to civilization. Ive got some tweaking to do to the 'Den' just like I did Bear. Mostly inversion issues. Gonna make all TVs, the coffee pot, and micro live on inversion. That way won't need to start geni for coffee or popcorn.... Other than a few manufacturering defects and the BRUTAL CRAFTSMANSHIP of the minimum wage workers putting them together. I do love it!! A HUGE UPGRADE from the Minnie Winnie and flat bed trailer....  😉

Last week I sold my travel trailer so I’m without a roof over my head at my hunting property. It was 2104 dual slide out. I left it up there year round and felt like it would just continue to lose value the longer it sat in the woods. I am planning to have a 12x20 log cabin built and run it off propane and generator. I have Also thought about insulating the walls and ceiling and adding 2 bunks one on each side that would fold down outside the trailer and add an awning like the one in the the pics. I had this one built but It towed so bad I sold it. Replaced it with my current trailer and then bought the used  travel trailer to keep on the property year round.

I went with e-track at chair height and then just over 48" then bought 8 2x4 hangers so i could stack them with stuff above the Outlander. Then when he was out, I could make bunk beds out of them one just forward of the other to use as a seat at a table and a stair to the upper bunk. I'll look for pics. But im in the woods now, but when i get home I can get some for sure. Found some!! Then an inverter in an added tongue box and presto... an almost travel trailer

Very nice. I have thought about the same as yours. Sure would be more economical. Looking at the photos I don’t see insulation in the ceiling. Is your trailer insulated? Do you camp in warm or cold season?

This is just a cargo. It was pulled brhing my 30' RV. I buy my trailers NAKED!! As a builder of custom homes, I prefer using a spray in foam as insulation. It also helps hold the rig together. I've also added a flush mount floor drop in for a table. I actually used a plate for a boat seat. Nicer looking and heavier duty...

My 2021 is listed as 79” tall. “Look” is a trailer I am looking at. Just would like to know if I’m on the right track. Thanks
