Okay... so here is my first in the builds area... but better late than never right?  I have purchased a Badlands 5000lb winch that is setup for sxs... it has the same style rockers and everything... nice... So it's time to install the unit... After figuring out a spot that allows my bed to still tip with my bumper on. It was time to start FABRICATION... I keep a bit of everything around and happened to have an old jeep front bumper that would fit the build nicely... I will work on that later... but wiring can now be done.. So... off to the races we go....

Running the harness up the drivers side floorboard trim, then up to the dash for the included rocker switch was fine... But... the  "hot lead" was a bit short. (Considering it is set to be installed up front) But I know this guy that has installed ACCESSIBLE power ports so wiring a new lead was EASY PEASY!! But where to mount the switch?? My blocks are full.. A little creative cutting and it almost looks factory. One other thing I've had laying around is a wireless remote for it... I'll keep you all posted. I'll also start a few more threads of mods I've made... it's a pretty good list...

RIDE SAFE!!

I will when i get it welded up... That got put to the "rear" of my list.... lol when my BUDS UNIT showed up.... I FIXED BEARS STEERING!!! YAY!!! And added a custom meassage "Hey Big Daddy" to the dash start up message... GOTTA LOVE THAT... Now to finish off with the brake bleed and then back on the winch mount... I'll list measurements and all... really pretty easy build... really just a piece of 4"channel and four tabs with the original plate welded to that... This will bolt to the rear A-arm bolts and give my bed enough room to tilt still...

Well, it's fully installed and working perfectly.. I can even tilt my bed fully with it installed... Here it is painted and then installed. I made this so it will fit the rear bolts of the rear A-arms... bolts were even ling enough to use... If anyone needs measurements id be glad to post them, but in the scope of things a 2"×4" channel fits perfectly between the bolts.. I made 4 tabs, snugged them in place then clamped the bracket to the back in place.... and tacked it up... pulled it and welded it up. Then centered the plate that came with the winch(making sure it would accommodate the winch placement.... and welded that onto the channel. Test fit to make sure it fit.... Then painted it with some Hammerite spay paint for some SERIOUS protection from the elements... and installed the bracket and wired it up... HOUSTON.... WE HAVE LIFT OFF!!!

Looks good. I too wanted a winch on the rear so I built one also. I made mine to fit into the receiver so it was removable and could be used on other units also. no rocker switch but I might add one with a quick plug and play. Pics in my build.

I was thinking a winch mounted the way you did it would mount up in that area. Great execution on that, turned out nice. I’ll be copying your idea for that at some point in the future for sure.

Only suggestion I would make would be to add a gusset or two under the winch mounting plate to the backer plate mounted to the machine. Just to add a little rigidity for when there is angle on the pull.

Really cool though AH2R.

I've actually thought of that, but the way it sits on the plate I don't think that is gonna be a problem. What I did do was gusset each tab and the channel is super thick. It was a jeep bumber to start its life.... My thought was if after a couple uses if it was showing sign of fatigue I could add the gussets below the winch.
