Power window issue ...

Hi there, thanks very much for the add.   I am having some issues with my passenger side power window on my 2020 Defender (XMR with a cab) - I am hoping someone can help me.   First the drivers side works fine.   Second, the passenger window does not work from either side.   It was intermitten and I switched out all of the switches as it looks like thats a pretty common problem.   It doesnt work at all now.    I took the door apart on the weekend to test.  It looks like there is power there when toggling the switch and when I applied power directly to the motor it worked fine up and down - reversing the wires.   I am stumped and hope someone can help guide me.  Its not easy to get this thing to the dealer - any guidance would be appreciated.

maybe check for broken or chaffed wires in the doors between the switch and motor.  also check for power at the motor from the switch.  if the motor powers up with direct and there is power to the switch, it must be somewhere inbetween.

Thanks very much.   There are two cable segments between the switch and the motor one of them has a resistor in it - wondering if thats the problem..   That said I removed that and plugged the one from the switch directly into the motor - nothing.  Its almost like its not getting a ground somehow..  does the switch reverse the polarity I wonder?

That i am not sure, i havent messed with them previously. I doubt that would be the case, though, with the switch.  I have never seen one that does that on such simple circuits. 

If it was working then quit, it is probably something grounding out from a worn wire, a broken wire, or a mechanical issue most likely.  you could see if a dealer would give you the resistance that should be for the harness, and check that.  if it is messed up, it would be very high. did you check continuity through that section of the harness wires?

problem is the switches. press on them too hard and bend the contact holder, take the switch apart and tweek the angle of the contacts. not that hard to do. if i can do it anyone can. don't be afraid to try. use your old switches and an ohm meter.
