Looking at Defender DPS/HD10 for the ranch

Hello to all! I’m shopping for my first sxs. My research keeps bringing me back to Can Am. 

The Yamahas are the others I might consider. 

We’re on a ranch in Pine Hollow, Oregon, my wife will also be driving it. I’ve been a certified mechanic since 75 and know something of engineering. Can Am’s always seem to be a step ahead. 

So tell me what you think of my assessment and choice of machines for snow removal, moving manure, cutting fields and general ranch work.

If you want a loud... vibrate you to death at idle ride with not enough power for around ur ranch ... buy the yamaha viking ...

If u want a quite smooth excellent ride with all the power u could need stick with ur thoughts on the hd10 ... u can't go wrong ... I have an hd10 max and it still impresses me every day and it has 2500 miles with not a problem ... one of my buddies has a viking 6 and beats his self up everytime he rides with us with the anticipation of trading his in next year on a defender

 I brought the 2019 DSP/HD10 home last night. 

After warming up my wife got in and we did a short half throttle blast up the drive way which was followed by a cloud of blue oil smoke. It went away so I’m thinking break in oil  

I’m not sure if this is normal for a new, right out of the box HD10? Any thoughts?

They say not to baby the machine and drive it regular from the get go. We did the same thing when we got home with ours and only thing we noticed was a smell of the unit breaking in so not sure about the smoke maybe just extra that needed burned off. If it persists I’d take it back in.

It only smoked that one time. My neighbor has a 2018 Polaris Ranger and he couldn’t take his eyes off the Defender. My brother in law has connections at the local Polaris dealer and could have had any model and options for 30-40% discount. I have a hard time buying discounted crap. Neighbor’s Ranger isn’t 1 year old and had the front diff and rear diff seals replaced, he’s disabled and his machine never leaves the blacktop. So it was broke upon delivery from the dealer. Then the time to get it fixed.

Mine smoked from the oils on the motor which appeared to look like smoke when new but it did puff one ot 2 small smoke clouds on the first day I had it ... I'm talkin first 0.8 miles when I gave it a decent stab... it's a brand new motor just settling its self in now it has 3033 miles and hasn't dont that once since the first day I drove it
