Badlands 5500 winch questions

I recently bought my defender hd9 dps and am looking for a winch. I’ve seen some mention that people are using the badlands apex 5500 long drum winch. What I was wondering is do you have to use the shut off switch when wiring?.. there doesn’t appear to be one with the can am branded winch…also is it possible to get the can am solenoid, and battery bars so it will sit under the plastic housing?..in all the install videos I’ve watched they attach the badlands solenoid in the spot for the cab air filter which I’d rather not do
